The California Universal Meals Program, AB 130, requires public schools serving students in grades K–12 to provide two meals free of charge (breakfast and lunch) during each school day to students requesting a meal, regardless of their meal eligibility status. This program is supported by federal and state reimbursements that are based on household income and eligibility, therefore, LPS is required to collect Universal Benefits Applications (UBA) from all students to report data to the state to determine additional school funding.
In addition to providing FREE meals during the school year, LPS is excited to announce the implementation of California’s Summer EBT program, also known as SUN Bucks. This program provides $120 per eligible child to help families buy food during the summer when school is out. Your students’ eligibility status could also provide additional benefits to your family, such as discounted testing and internet, so don’t forget to submit your application!
We encourage all LPS families to complete a Universal Benefits Application online, which you can do on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. The Parent Portal will also allow you to update your contact information and see your child’s schedule, grades, assignments, and attendance. You can access the Portal from any device with the internet, including a phone app called Campus Parent. Scroll down for a video tutorial. We have also provided a PDF version of the Universal Benefits Application form that can be printed out and completed.
