SCHOOL COMMITTEES

Parent Advisory Committee (PAC)

The Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) is a group of parents, teachers, students, and staff who work together with the principal to support student success at LPS Richmond.

The PAC helps:

  • Review how school funds are used—especially for English Learners, foster youth, and other student groups
  • Monitor and give input on the school’s Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP)
  • Support long-term goals like academic improvement and student well-being

By joining the PAC, families have a direct voice in shaping school programs and priorities. Once the council approves the LCAP, it goes to the LPS Board of Trustees for final review.

The composition of the SSC is driven by education code with each council having a minimum of ten members. Classroom teachers must make up the majority of school personnel elected, who are also joined by parents/ guardians and students.

All members of the SSC, except for the principal, must be nominated and voted on by themselves or their peers. For example, only a parent/guardian who has a student enrolled at the school, can nominate or vote for themselves or another parent/guardian whose student attends the same school. To help with transition and stability of the SSC, half of the members will be elected to a one or two-year term.

District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC)

The committee helps:

  • Provide input on programs and services for English Learners
  • Share ideas for improving instruction and student engagement
  • Support family involvement and regular attendance
  • Advise on school goals through the LCAP process
